![]() " Chained Echoes is a wildly ambitious and impressive turn-based RPG that, aside from minor faults, sticks the landing on all fronts. It has a story that manages to feel both grounded and fantastical, combat that constantly evolves and never feels sluggish, and environments that beg to be explored." Noisy Pixel (9.5/10) "Chained Echoes is simply the best RPG I’ve played in a very very long time. So, let's see what some reviewers are saying about Chained Echoes: God Is A Geek (10/10) We unfortunately haven't been able to get access to the Xbox version of Chained Echoes until today - it seems most of the following reviews are based on PC code, but we can't imagine the console version differs too heavily. I strongly urge you to try out Chained Echoes on Game Pass if you're unsure about whether or not you'd like it.One of the new additions to Xbox Game Pass on December 8th is Chained Echoes, and although we haven't seen too many reviews for this one just yet, the handful of scores that it's received have been extremely high so far. Game Pass offered a great utility in functioning as a "Try Before You Buy" method of playing the game. However, don't discount Game Pass's value in this equation. But, the game is so damn good that I think it's a reasonable compromise to make this transfer work.ĭespite the issue with achievements, this is my ideal way to play the game going forward. I assume it's because they only trigger once, on completion, rather than others that are watching for numerical progression like "Win X battles." All this means is that you'll have to play through the game another time, potentially in NG+, to fully unlock all achievements. It appears that any story-based achievements will stay locked when you transfer your save. Unfortunately, the lone speed bump in this process relates to achievements. I beat the game with this save and had zero issues moving back and forth between PC and Steam Deck, with Steam's cloud saves handling the upload perfectly between sessions. Once I moved around in game for a minute or so, the game overwrote the auto-save and I was all set to continue. I loaded up the game in Steam and my save was in the Load screen exactly where I left off. I copied my Game Pass save from its safe location into the Steam saves folder, and then renamed the long save name to saveData1. I didn't want to mess with the auto-save slot in case it has any sort of weird flags that separate it from manual saves, so instead I deleted saveData1. %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Chained Echoes\Chained EchoesĬonveniently, Steam saves have names like saveData0 and saveData1. Mercifully, the Steam saves are in a much more predictable spot: me just shoving random saves into a folder and hoping Steam recognized them, and it takes fewer than two minutes to get to the first auto-save. Is this necessary? Probably not, but I felt better about the game making the first save vs. Boot up the game and skip cutscenes until you're at the point of the first auto-save. Next, I installed the Steam version of the game. It may take a little extra tinkering if you have multiple saves to transfer. I only had three saves (two manual, one auto) but had five files in that folder. Feel free to copy all of the files there, but note that not all of the files in that folder are actually saves. I copied that save off to a safe location in case I somehow lost it later on due to a Game Pass glitch or something. I assumed my most recent save would be the largest, clocking in at around 130KB. Finally, inside of this second long name folder you'll find your saves. Inside of this folder is yet another folder with a very long name. Inside of the wgs folder, you'll see a couple more folders. %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\DECK13.ChainedEchoesRelease_(randomstring)\SystemAppData\wgs. To start, the location for the Game Pass save is in: It's unnecessary but appreciated all the same! Quick thanks to u/SixSixTrample for their award on my original comment that contained this info. I've seen this question pop up a few times, and once had the same question myself, so I figured I'd create a post to make this info easier to locate in search results.
